Green Bay Packers sign long snapper Jack Coco, release Jahmir Johnson
The Green Bay Packers signed long snapper Jack Coco and released offensive tackle Jahmir Johnson on Wednesday, general manager Brian Gutekunst announced. The pair of transactions are the first for the Packers since May 12, when they claimed tight end Eli Wolf off of waivers and released receiver Chris Blair.
An undrafted rookie out of Georgia Tech, Coco was a participant at the Packers rookie minicamp earlier this month. He played in 39 games with two starts during his four seasons with the Yellow Jackets (2018-21), serving as the team’s long snapper (2018-20). He also saw time at tight end, where he posted five career receptions for 26 yards.
The Packers announced that Jack Coco is will wear No. 56 with the team next season.
As for Johnson, he is also an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M who participated in the Packers rookie minicamp. A graduate transfer, he started 11 games for the Aggies this past season, allowing two sacks and 31 total pressures at left tackle. He was a 17-game starter at guard and tackle over three years at Tennessee before transferring.
Johnson was released with an injury settlement and will revert to injured reserve once he clears waivers.

Green Bay is coming off of a 13-4 finish this past season that ended with a loss to San Francisco in the divisional round. The Packers lost a big piece of their offense in the offseason after receiver Davante Adams requested a trade and was eventually dealt to Las Vegas. They added receivers Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Samori Toure in the 2022 NFL Draft in attempt to find his replacement.
Even with the loss of Adams, the Packers still have Aaron Rodgers back at quarterback, a big bonus for their young playmakers. They’ll enter 2022 with Super Bowl hopes, coming in with the fifth-best odds this offseason.
