Report: Green Bay Packers sign quarterback Jordan Love to massive extension
The Green Bay Packers have made their long-term commitment to quarterback Jordan Love official this week. The team is reportedly signing Love to a four-year deal for $220 million after he led the team to a 9-8 record and a run in the playoffs in his first season as the starter, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Green Bay is making the quarterback one of the highest-paid players in the league with a record $75 million signing bonus, plus $155 million in new full guarantees. They drafted him with the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Though he sat for several seasons behind four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, he eventually moved into the starter role that the team hoped he would fill when they added him to the roster.
Jordan Love extended on new mega-deal
During the 2023 season, Love threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He completed passes at a rate of 64.2% while taking 30 sacks. He also rushed for 247 yards and scored a team-high four touchdowns rushing. During postseason games against the Cowboys and 49ers, he threw for 466 more yards, with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He became the first NFL quarterback in history to post a perfect passer rating in his first playoff game.
Love had one of the most impressive games of his fledgling career in the final regular season against the Chicago Bears in January. He threw 32 passes, completing 27, for 316 yards with two touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers began training camp without Love as the former first-round draft pick staged a holdout over his contract. His deal was set to expire after the 2024 season. By extending his contract now, the Packers are saving themselves from a free agency headache next March.
With the quarterback’s deal now signed, Green Bay can forge ahead with their star. The team added former Raiders running back Josh Jacobs this offseason to pair with Love in the hopes of competing for an NFC title this season.
