Packers star linebacker Preston Smith could be closing in on a huge payday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Smith needs one sack to trigger a hefty incentive.

“Packers’ LB Preston Smith needs one sack Sunday vs. Detroit to hit 10 this season and earn a $750,000 incentive,” revealed Schefter. “A tenth sack for this season Sunday also would increase his 2022 base salary by $500K.”

With one sack being the only thing that stands between Smith and a huge amount of money, expect the linebacker to play his heart out against the Lions. Whether it’s Jared Goff or Tim Boyle at quarterback for Detroit, Smith is coming full force to get that sack.

Green Bay doesn’t have much to play for on Sunday, as the Packers have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC. However, Smith has some money on the table that he doesn’t plan to leave Detroit without.

Packers offensive lineman activated for Sunday

The Green Bay Packers just received a giant boost to the offensive line. On Saturday, the Packers activated rookie offensive lineman Josh Myers off of injured reserve, and he is expected to play in the regular-season finale on Sunday.

Myers, a second-round selection in the NFL Draft ahead of the season, served as the Packers’ starting center before going down with a knee injury in Week 6. He played in five games before the injury, starting all five.

The former Ohio State star was a second-team All-American selection last season, also being named a first-team All-Big Ten player. Myers was one of the top offensive linemen in the 2017 recruiting cycle as a four-star prospect, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In addition to activating Myers from injured reserve, the Packers made two additional roster moves on Saturday. Green Bay also elevated defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson and linebacker La’Darius Hamilton to the active roster for Sunday’s game.

The Packers enter the final week of the regular season with a 13-3 record and hold the NFC’s top seed. A matchup against the Detroit Lions awaits in Week 18.
