For a boxer, Greg Hardy makes a really good defensive end. He’s currently competing for the Dallas Enforcers. Yes, that’s team boxing. And on Friday night, the former NFL sack master was pounded by his opponent.

Hardy’s portion of the team fight unfolded in the 17th round. And you can check out the video. Hardy, the former Panther and Cowboy star, is in the dark blue trunks and white tights. Opponent Alexander Flores knocked Hardy down at the beginning of the round. Then roughly a minute into the round, Flores’ left jab to Hardy’s jaw forced the ref to call the fight. Hardy had Flores on the ropes moments before, the fight quickly flipped in Flores’ favor.

After the bout, Greg Hardy posted a video on his Instagram page. He looked into the camera and offered his thoughts on what went so wrong.

“Win some you lose some, tonight was my night for the first fight and the second I got sloppy looking for a knockout. Forgot to fight my fight and paid the price against a good boxer. More to learn, u trolls have fun I’ll be back (tomorrow) to talk ish. Prolly suspended next week but back week after next if the Dallas Enforcers will have ya boy back. Thank you to the Team Combat League for being classy and bringing real boxers together to do work.”

Greg Hardy said boxing progress is ‘going steadily up’

Greg Hardy’s team is competing in the Team Combat League. The league is in its first year. You can watch the boxing in person at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. Each team features male and female boxers. The squads are based in New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and San Antonio.

Earlier this year, Greg Hardy competed in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. He also was knocked out, this time in the second round, by Josh Watson.

His post-NFL competitive life isn’t going that well. Hardy’s NFL career ended in part because of domestic violence allegations. The Cowboys opted not to bring Hardy back for the 2017 season. He tried the Spring League in 2017. And he played in the American Arena League the next year.

Off the field, he dabbled in UFC. But he lost three consecutive fights as his contract was about to expire.

Greg Hardy offered a second message on social media Friday night. He was basically addressing his non-athletic critics.

“No excuses from me but y’all narps should kill that hate cause my progress is going steadily up. And I’m down to clown so u gonna have to keep watching you might as well enjoy. The journey to the top starts (tomorrow) and all u non narps talking ish don’t forget tall couldn’t do half the ish I did after I retired from being the best at what I was in the NFL. lol. Tune in next time guys. Signed your favorite bad guy lol love u.”
