The iconic AO Racing “Rexy” Porsche is zooming around Daytona for the Rolex 24, but the pole winner has one problem. The No. 12 GTD Pro car was seen racing around with the passenger door open. You don’t see that in NASCAR.

The only problem with having doors on a race car, there are doors. This happened on pit road, I’m not sure if a driver swap was made or an adjustment of some kind, but the door was left open.

Multiple fans saw the issue at the track. Here’s a video showing the door popped open as the Porsche races around Daytona. Gotta credit @nascarcasm with the best joke possible on this.

Here is another video of the open door on Rexy. The Rolex 24 at Daytona has been fun in the early going. It has also been chaotic. We’ll chalk the open door up to being a little bit of both.

I mean, this is just funny to see.

If you haven’t been watching the Rolex 24 at Daytona, then you should change that. It’s great racing, there have been surprises every hour so far. It is still very early in this race and multiple teams have already met their end or taken heavy damage.

Rexy is hoping to win the GTD Pro class this year. After a major pole award earlier this week, the AO Racing team would love nothing more than to follow it up with a win in their class.

Rolex 24 at Daytona breaks attendance record

In front of a record-breaking crowd, there have already been multiple incidents and wrecks on the track. A couple of teams had mechanical issues. Then there were others that found themselves in hard accidents, causing major damage.

The 2023 GTD Pro winners, Vasser Sullivan Racing’s No. 14 Lexus, were involved in a wreck with an LMP2. It was major damage and while the team might repair it enough to get it back on the track, hopes of defending their win are out the window.

Of course, Saturday got started with the safety car wrecking hours before the race began. It really got the day started off on a wild tone and it has lived up to that start throughout the first two hours.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona is a very tough event. Teams are going to have to power through the night and into the early afternoon on Sunday. With so many accidents this early in the 24 hours, we will see how many teams make it to the end.
