Hailie Deegan hits the wall hard after push from Nick Sanchez during Toyota 200
When will Hailie Deegan get a chance to run clean? The ThorSport driver was on the wrong end of a bump from Nick Sanchez. While the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has its issues with rough racing, this one could have been avoided. Instead, Deegan and a fast, top-10 truck are out of the race early.
Nick Sanchez is just a rookie in this series, but he has driven like a veteran at times. It is a shame to see him involved in an incident like this. Coming into the turn, Sanchez just didn’t lift and didn’t make the turn very well. Hailie Deegan didn’t have a chance to avoid this mess.
Watch below as Deegan does her best to control her Ford, Sanchez just came in too fast.
This race has had its fair share of cautions already. These Truck Series drivers get really aggressive out on the track. Each one is fighting for a win, fighting for position, fighting for a new job even. However, you have to know when to push and when to let off. Lap 88 of 160 laps is not the place to push like this.
For Deegan, it is on to the next one. Nashville Superspeedway on June 23rd is the next Truck Series event. So, there will be time to think about what happened at WWT Raceway and time to move on from it as well.
Hailie Deegan gets support from NASCAR fans
Many fans in NASCAR want to see Deegan succeed. She is from a motorsports family, is a great marketable driver, and has some real talent behind the wheel. When moments like this take her out of races she could perform well in, it is a tough pill to swallow. The good news is that there are folks that are behind her 100%.

The one big question is, can she get into the Xfinity Series with how her Truck Series career has gone?
Many fans expect a move to Xfinity will really show off her talents. Deegan was good in her one Xfinity start last year at Las Vegas. In that race, she finished P13. The car seems to fit her better than the trucks, and she wouldn’t be the first driver to find success at that level after struggling in the Truck Series.
Even fans that aren’t the biggest supporters of Deegan could see that this wreck was different. No need for that kind of driving, even if Sanchez is a rookie.
So, where does Deegan go from here? Well, she’s got to just keep racing and keep moving along. Thankfully she was fine after this big wreck. It was a hard hit and something that no one really saw coming.
With a couple of weeks off after this, maybe Deegan will head to Nashville with some confidence.
