Harrison Burton finally broke through and won a NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024, but he’s been looking for a new seat for quite awhile, ever since it was announced Josh Berry would pilot the No. 21 for the Wood Brothers in 2025.

After much deliberation, Burton’s plans for next season have been announced. The 23-year old will be driving the No. 15 for AM Racing in the Xfinity Series, the team announced on Friday morning.

“AM Racing proudly announced today that recent Daytona Cup Series winner Harrison Burton will join the organization to pilot the team’s flagship Ford Mustang entry full-time in the Xfinity Series beginning with the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on February 15, 2025,” a press release from AM Racing read.

“Burton will join the Statesville, N.C. team following a three-year stint in the Cup Series, driving the famed No. 21 Ford Mustang for the iconic Wood Brothers Racing team.”

Burton had high expectations when he first got into the Cup Series, but perhaps it was a little too soon for him, as he struggled immensely in the No. 21 at times. At least he’ll leave the Cup Series a winner, after he out-dueled two-time champion Kyle Busch coming to the line during August’s Coke Zero 400.

Moving forward, Burton will hope to cultivate a winning culture at AM Racing, with the idea of eventually returning to the Cup Series after some success in the Xfinity Series, like a litany of wheelmen have done in the past.

“I’m excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be,” added Burton. “I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things l’ve learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series and be the best driver I can be.

“It’s a blessing to continue my NASCAR journey, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity.”

AM Racing had run a myriad of different drivers in 2024, from Hailee Deegan to Joey Logano and a bunch of one-offs in between. Moving forward with Harrison Burton could be beneficial for both parties, and could provide the Xfinity Series with another capable team in 2025.
