With 56 laps left to race in the Ally 400, Carson Hocevar reverted to his old ways. He spun out Harrison Burton under yellow. While NASCAR did not issue a punishment at the time, the incident is under review.

Harrison Burton later wrecked out of the race and went to the infield care center as is part of the regular protocol when a driver wrecks. The incident with Carson Hocevar was just a precursor to that.

After leaving the care center, Burton talked about the Hocevar incident. It doesn’t appear there is any love lost between the two.

“I don’t know, he blocks everyone every week and I blocked him once and he decided to try and wreck me under yellow,” Burton told Caleb Barnes of Frontstretch. “So, I don’t know. He’s on a lot of people’s lists as guys they don’t like racing. So, it kind of shows you why.”

As far as any retaliation, Harrison is going to just move on to the next race and get on with his life. It’s a good thing, too. Burton has to focus on results right now.

“I just go to next week and go focus on that.”

Carson Hocevar showed a little of those bad habits. Hocevar has been known to act irrationally on the track. In 2023 he was given a two-lap penalty for trying to wreck another driver purposefully.

So, why did NASCAR miss it this time around? We even saw Layne Riggs get a penalty for moving Stefan Parsons on the track after a multiple lap battle between the two drivers in the Truck Series race.

So, why not Hocevar?

Carson Hocevar incident being reviewed

NASCAR is reviewing the incident with Harrison Burton. That basically means, they missed it during the race and are likely going to issue a penalty after the fact. Then again, they could just let this one go and give Hocevar a warning.

Outside of this little dustup, Carson Hocevar has been really good this season. He has kept a low profile for the most part. We hear about his successes, top-10s at Texas and Gateway, instead of his failures and mistakes more often than not now.

With his P16 finish at Nashville, Hocevar is showing consistent speed. That has allowed him to keep within shouting distance of Josh Berry for Rookie of the Year. The two are only separated by 25 points.

Carson Hocevar has five straight top-20 finishes. That top-10 at Gateway started it and since then he has finishes of P17, P14, P17, and P16. Will that consistency continue in his first attempt at the Chicago Street Course?
