The Heisman Trophy race is heating up with a little more than a month left to go in the college football regular season. Nine weeks of play have now passed with only five more remaining before conference championships take place.

As such, FanDuel has updated its odds to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel jumped up from +350 last week to +230 and has the best odds of any player.

While Gabriel rose up the list, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty dropped a few spots as his odds fell from +200 to +440. Meanwhile, Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter saw a massive jump as his odds went from +1500 last week all the way up to +270.

A quarterback has won seven of the past eight Heisman Trophies but Hunter and Jeanty will have a chance to change that this year. You can view the full Heisman Trophy odds after Week 9, according to FanDuel, below.

+230 — QB Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

Chris Pietsch/The Register-Guard / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Gabriel inched a bit closer to making college football history as he threw for his 143rd touchdown on Saturday in a 38-9 win against Illinois. That puts him at No. 2 on the FBS career passing touchdowns leaders list and just 13 more TD throws away from overtaking former Houston QB Case Keenum for the top spot.

In this season alone, Gabriel leads the country in completion percentage (76.2%) and the Big Ten in passing yards (2,371) and touchdowns (18). He has the Ducks as the No. 1 team in the country and a national title favorite, so his spot as a Heisman finalist seems pretty secure at this point.

+270 — CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado

After a quiet past two weeks, Hunter exploded to record nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-23 win against Cincinnati on Saturday. He’s now up to 60 catches for 757 yards and eight scores this season as he is one of the most dangerous threats in college football.

What truly pushes him over the edge as a Heisman candidate is that he also plays defensively as a cornerback, putting him on the field for most of the team’s snaps. Hunter has recorded a Big 12-leading seven passes defended this season along with two interceptions and a forced fumble.

+300 — QB Cam Ward, Miami

Ward was held without a touchdown for the first time all season in last week’s 36-14 win against Florida State. He still ranks second in the FBS with 24 passing touchdowns in addition to three rushing touchdowns on the season.

His play this season has the Hurricanes undefeated and regarded as a national championship contender in the third year under coach Mario Cristobal. If he gets them to the ACC Championship Game for the first time since 2017, he’ll likely also be in New York for the Heisman ceremony.

+440 — RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Jeanty has rushed for at least 100 yards in every game this season to lead the country with 1,376 total in addition to 18 touchdowns. He had 128 yards and one TD in a 29-24 win against UNLV on Saturday that put the Broncos that much closer in the Mountain West Conference Championship race.

Jeanty is still 1,252 yards away from breaking the all-time college football rushing record set by Barry Sanders in 1988 at Oklahoma State. He would need to average 250.4 yards per game over the final five games of the regular season to get there, with his season average being 196.6.

+1500 — QB Cade Klubnik, Clemson

There’s a big drop off from Jeanty to Klubnik as the top four Heisman candidates have clearly set themselves apart from the rest. That’s not to discount the season that the Clemson QB is having as he appears to have truly found his rhythm within the offense.

Klubnik has thrown for 1,836 yards and 20 touchdowns to three interceptions this year in addition to 227 yards rushing and four TDs on the ground. He has the Tigers at 6-1 and looking to once again compete for an ACC crown.

+3300 — QB Carson Beck, Georgia

Beck has been solid this season and played well enough to once again put the Bulldogs in contention to make the College Football Playoff. He has thrown for 1,993 yards and 15 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Those numbers aren’t as eye-popping as some of the others on this list, and he’ll need to pick it up over the final month of the year if he hopes to be a Heisman finalist. Georgia will have plenty of big stages for him to do so, beginning next week in a rivalry game against Florida.

+5000 — QB Drew Allar, Penn State

Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images

Allar finds himself in a similar boat to Beck when it comes to the Heisman Trophy conversation. Although his numbers don’t exactly stand out among the crowd, he has led his team to an undefeated record and has them in the national title conversation.

Allar has a QBR of 83.6 according to ESPN, ranking him No. 10 in the country, and has thrown for 1,640 yards and 12 touchdowns to four interceptions. He suffered an injury last week and his status is in question for a marquee matchup against Ohio State this Saturday.

+5000 — QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Hunter isn’t the only Buffaloes star with Heisman Trophy odds that rank in the top 10. Sanders, the son of Colorado coach Deion Sanders, has also impressed this season in helping the Buffaloes to six wins for the first time since 2016.

Shedeur Sanders has thrown for 2,591 yards and 21 touchdowns to six interceptions. He is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and could have a chance to add some hardware in college before getting there.

+6000 — QB Kurtis Rourke, Indiana

Rourke did not play this past week due to injury as Indiana took care of business against Washington to improve to 8-0. However, reports this week are optimistic that he will be back for a matchup against Michigan State in Week 10.

Prior to his injury, the Ohio transfer had thrown for 1,941 yards and 15 touchdowns to three interceptions. He has the Hoosiers off to their best start in 57 years and being discusses as a legitimate threat to make the College Football Playoff.

+6000 — QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Will McLelland-Imagn Images

Milroe has nearly as many rushing touchdowns as he does passing, with 12 scores on the ground compared to 13 through the air. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound junior is perhaps the best dual-threat quarterback in all of college football, having run for 380 yards this season while averaging 3.7 yards per carry.

The Alabama QB had a hot start to the season and was the leader in the Heisman odds about a month ago. However, he has thrown for only two touchdowns to four interceptions in the past three games as he continues to slide down the list.

+6000 — QB Bryson Daily, Army

Daily has been a huge key in leading the Black Knights to a 7-0 start to the year. Due to the triple option system, he has only 47 pass attempts on the entire season but has more than made up for that with his legs.

Dailey has run for 909 yards and 19 touchdowns while also throwing for 629 yards and seven scores with no interceptions. He’s a longshot to win the Heisman, but it’s impressive what he’s done this season nonetheless.
