This morning, Chase Elliott announced that he had undergone shoulder surgery to repair a lingering shoulder injury he had. Now, Hendrick Motorsports has come out and announced the extent of the injury for their NASCAR driver.

Chase Elliott has been dealing with a torn labrum this season. He said it was “an old injury” which means he’s been dealing with it for some time. This was just a season where Elliott was a little beat up physically, even more than fans knew.

“Hendrick Motorsports confirmed the 27-year-old driver underwent an outpatient procedure Wednesday to correct a torn labrum,” Hendrick said in a statement. “The team said the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion had an MRI on Monday after experiencing chronic shoulder pain in recent years.”

No worries, Chase Elliott is going to be just fine moving forward. He will not miss time in the 2024 season due to this surgery. He is excited for the Daytona 500 and to enjoy his offseason.

After a less-than-ideal season, Elliott is hoping to be 100% for 2024. Getting his shoulder repaired is part of that process.

Chase Elliott breaks the news about his shoulder

This was news that Chase Elliott wanted to break himself. He went to Twitter to announce it, and got ahead of any rumors or media members breaking the story. You can say he doesn’t have personality, but that’s definitely a move that Elliott would make, and he did.

Fans love transparency from drivers and teams. This is a great sign of transparency. The last thing Elliott fans want is another thing to worry about. Both Chase and his fans are ready to see him back in victory lane, and often, moving forward.

“Hey guys, what’s up?” Elliott says in his video. “I hope you’re enjoying the fall and the holidays approaching really quickly I just wanted to give you a quick update. I had a little procedure on my shoulder, had an old injury that I needed to get tended to and obviously the offseason is the much better time to do that than my last surgery. So, here we are and everything is all good ready to go for 2024, certainly looking forward to the Daytona 500 coming up in February.”

Chase Elliott won five races in 2022, a totally chaotic season that had 19 individual race winners. If he gets 100% healthy, I think he’s going to be a championship contender in 2024.
