Kyle Larson is running it back. On Sunday, May 25, Larson will once again attempt to run the full 1,100 miles in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.

This time, he’ll do it with a pair of paint schemes that closely resemble each other. Hendrick Automotive Group unveiled Larson’s Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 paint schemes Wednesday on YouTube.

“HendrickCars.com doesn’t change its paint scheme very often, but when they do, I feel like they go all in and really make it worthwhile,” Larson said in a statement. “These cars look awesome, and I think it’s exciting to have a fresh look and a fresh start to kick off this year’s Hendrick 1100 effort. Everyone involved is super optimistic and motivated by a second chance to do the double. We’re not focused on last year. We’re focused on all the opportunity we have now.”

Kyle Larson set for second Indy-Charlotte Double bid

Unfortunately for Larson, last year’s attempt didn’t go as planned. Rain pushed back the start of the Indy 500. Larson missed the beginning of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. After finishing P18 at Indianapolis, he jetted over to Charlotte and arrived with 151 laps left in the Coca-Cola 600. Mother Nature once again struck, however, and NASCAR called the race early before Larson ever hopped into his No. 5 Chevrolet.

Larson was impressive in his IndyCar Series debut. He set Indy 500 Qualifying single lap rookie record by posting an average speed of 233.543 mph on Lap 1 during Top 12 qualifying. Larson ran inside the top 10 before a pit road penalty knocked him out of contention.

Hendrick Motorsports will have further contingencies in place if weather impacts the Indy 500. Rick Hendrick said this past September that Larson will race in the Coca-Cola 600 if there’s rain and the start of the Indy 500 is delayed. 2004 IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan will serve as the backup driver for the No. 17 Dallara DW12.

Until then, Larson’s sole focus is on the 2025 Cup Series season. The 2021 Cup champion got the win at Homestead and currently sits second in the points standings behind teammate William Byron.
