Hettinger Racing, the longtime Late Model team, announced Tuesday it has acquired the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series assets from Bret Holmes Racing.
With BHR announcing this past Friday it would shut down operations with three races remaining in the 2024 Truck Series season, Hettinger has hired Brett Moffitt to drive the newly branded No. 4 Silverado for the final two races. The team will make its debut in this Friday’s Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

“I said earlier this year that when it came to racing, I wanted quality over quantity. And the equipment Chris Hettinger already had was second to none,” Moffitt said, via TobyChristie.com. “With his purchase of Bret Holmes Racing, Chris’ operation is scaled up and ready to tackle the Truck Series. I feel like the potential is there. And I’m really looking forward to driving their Chevy and getting Hettinger Racing prepared for next year.”

Hettinger Racing employs Brett Moffitt following acquisition of Brett Holmes Racing
Moffitt, who has driven part-time in NASCAR this season, is a former Truck Series champion. The 32-year-old captured his first title with Hattori Racing Enterprises in 2018, his first full-time campaign in the series. He has bounced around since then, last competing full-time in the Truck Series in 2020.
Team owner Chris Hettinger said Moffitt “gives us a great opportunity to get a head start on 2025.”
“Brett Moffitt gives us a great opportunity to get a head start on 2025,” Hettinger said. “He’s proven himself in the Truck Series and his feedback from this week’s race at Martinsville and next week’s race at Phoenix will be invaluable. We’ve had a lot to do in a short period of time to get ready for these last two Truck Series races, and we’re confident the effort we’re putting in now will pay dividends next year.”
