Hollywood Brown 'disappointed, frustrated and sad' after landing on injured reserve
The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that receiver Hollywood Brown has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to the sternoclavicular joint dislocation he suffered in the preseason opener last month.
Brown, initially thought to be sidelined 4-6 weeks, will now be out for “months not weeks,” head coach Andy Reid said. He will undergo surgery Monday in Colorado after specialists determined it was too risky for him to play. Brown took to X to express his frustration with the outcome.
“Disappointed, frustrated, and Sad was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because Of my Faith in God knowing that this too shall pass, no matter the great opportunity I had in front of me,” Brown wrote. “It’s not over and that’s not the path God wanted for me and I’m perfectly fine with that now.
“I feel it’s my duty to let everyone know out there no matter if things are going good or not going the way you want it to, never wary from your faith but to lean and trust into God no matter the situation…With that being said let’s enjoy some great football!! Let’s go Chiefs!! See y’all Soon.”

Chiefs to be without Hollywood Brown for most of 2024 season
Brown, 27, signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Chiefs this offseason. He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens. After recording his first 1,000-yard receiving season in 2021, Baltimore traded him to the Arizona Cardinals. In two seasons in Arizona, he hauled in 118 receptions for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns in 26 games. He missed time in both of his seasons with the Cardinals dealing with foot and heel injuries.
With Brown sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Chiefs will continue to lean on tight end Travis Kelce, as well as receivers Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Rice led the way in Kansas City’s 27-20 Week 1 home victory over the Ravens. He hauled in seven receptions for 103 yards. Worthy, meanwhile, found the end zone twice in his NFL debut.
