CJ Stroud gives glowing review of Stefon Diggs' fit with Texans
The Houston Texans added a potent weapon to CJ Stroud‘s arsenal this offseason in the form of former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs became one of the league’s top stars while in Buffalo, but he hasn’t let his success inflate his ego. Discussing his new teammate last week, Stroud complimented Diggs for his work ethic and attitude regarding his fellow wide receivers.
“Diggs is fitting in great, he’s come in with his head down and just working,” Stroud said, via DJ Bien-Amie of ESPN.com. “He’s helping me out a lot. He’s come in and been a leader, which I’m proud of him for, been unselfish and wanted to see other guys eat. That was his main thing, he wanted to be around dogs. He stepped into that role where there’s a dog everywhere.”
Diggs made the move to Houston following a trade that send a 2025 second-round pick to the Bills. He had four highly productive seasons with the Bills. In 66 games, he hauled in 445 receptions for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns. Diggs earned a Pro Bowl selection in each season in Buffalo, including his first and only AP first-team All-Pro honor in 2020 when he tallied a career-high 127 receptions for 1,535 yards.
Buffalo initially acquired Diggs from the Vikings ahead of the 2020 season. In five seasons in Minnesota, he came down with 365 catches for 4,623 yards and 30 scores. He was a big-time weapon for Josh Allen, but now he’s becoming a favorite of Stroud, who is coming off an AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award-winning season.

Diggs praises Stroud’s leadership
On Diggs’ end, he’s thrilled to be working with a quarterback with as much leadership ability as Stroud. As a rookie, Stroud immediately commanded the Texans locker room. It’s a good sign of things to come as he enters Year 2.
“He’s a hell of a quarterback, he’s a hell of a leader,” Diggs said of Stroud in April. “As you watched those guys throughout the season last year, you kind of started to see them build something really special. (Stroud) as a quarterback, and as you see him lead his team, it was something that we all kind of got excited about. You kind of noticed it around the league. If you weren’t watching, you heard about it.“
Last season, the Texans won the AFC South, going 10-7 in the regular season. With Diggs, their ceiling has been raised even higher.
