Texans HC DeMeco Ryans presser hilariously interrupted by emergency alerts
Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans may have discovered a new way to get out of answering certain questions at press conferences.
The vibes are great in Houston at the moment, as the Texans are coming off back-to-back victories, the latest a 30-6 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Steelers. As Ryans’ team prepares for a showdown with the Atlanta Falcons this weekend, he took the stand to speak with the media on Wednesday.
As he was being asked a question regarding his offensive line by Brooks Kubena The Houston Chronicle, the infamous emergency test alert — yes, the one you got on your phone earlier Wednesday afternoon — interrupted him. ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime captured the video, and shared it to Twitter for everyone to see.
“The zombie apocalypse happening mid way during the DeMeco Ryans press conference lol,” tweeted Bien-Aime, accompanying the video, laughing his way through the situation.
Everyone in the press room had a tremendous laugh due to the alert, even Ryans. The Texans leader even quipped to Kubena, “There’s your answer,” when the alert went off.
As you can see, everyone was interrupted by the emergency test alert, even DeMeco Ryans and the Houston Texans. Nobody was immune to the minor annoyance it caused, and some were able to laugh it off, at the least.

Houston has been the doormat of the AFC for the last couple of seasons, and that seems to finally be changing. After starting the season 0-2 by virtue of losses to the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts, the Texans are right back in the thick of the AFC South, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars and the aforementioned Steelers in consecutive games.
Ryans loves the way his defense has looked, as that’s the side of the ball he’s more than familiar with, but Houston’s offense has been the real surprise. Led by rookie quarterback CJ Stroud, the Texans’ offense, specifically their passing game, has looked really damn good.
The rookie quarterback is yet to throw an interception, and has amassed 1,212 passing yards and six touchdowns on the season. Additionally, wide receiver Nico Collins is finally breaking out, catching 22 passes for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns through Week 4.
It’s been an awesome start to DeMeco Ryans’ tenure in Houston, and the Texans will look to keep things rolling in Atlanta against the Falcons on Sunday.
