Houston Texans sign former Pro Bowl LB Devin White
The Houston Texans (5-2) announced Wednesday they have signed linebacker Devin White.
White, 26, signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) this past offseason. After being a healthy scratch for the first four games of the season, the Eagles released him on Oct. 8. Beat out by Nakobe Dean for the starting job, White did not play a single snap in Philadelphia.
White, the 2019 No. 5 overall pick out of LSU, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3). He started 75 games in Tampa Bay, recording 566 tackles (364 solo), 40 tackles for loss, 23.0 sacks, 64 quarterback hits, 21 passes defended, six forced fumbles and three interceptions. White earned Pro Bowl honors in 2021, one year after helping lead the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl LV victory.

Texans bring in Devin White amid injuries at LB
He failed to replicate that success in 2022 and ’23, with Tampa Bay declining to pick up his fifth-year option. After a tumultuous 2023 campaign in which he was benched late in the season in favor of K.J. Britt, the Buccaneers decided against bringing him back.
White will look to turn his career around in Houston, who are dealing with injuries at the linebacker position. Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and Henry To’oTo’o (concussion) missed this past Sunday’s game.
