Brevin Jordan injury update: Texans TE receives diagnosis on knee injury
Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan will miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Thursday.
Jordan confirmed the news of his diagnosis with a post on social media.
“It’s what we do,” the fourth-year Texans tight end wrote. “We modern day gladiators. I played the whole game, not knowing which play or when, but with a torn ACL and didn’t even know until the next day. I love this football shit so much bro. Everything about it. And I’m looking forward to coming back better than ever.”
Jordan, a fifth-round pick of the Texans in the 2021 NFL Draft, suffered the knee injury in a 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears last weekend. He’s coming off a 17-catch, 219-yard season in 2023, and he’s totaled 53 receptions, 532 receiving yards and five touchdowns in his career.
Through two weeks this season, the former University of Miami standout had notched two catches for seven yards. He’s in the final year of his rookie contract.

“You want to talk about the heartbeat of this team, that’s who he is,” Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud said of Jordan, via the Houston Chronicle. “He’s somebody that loves everybody in this building and loves ball. I think he was really getting his momentum on just who he wanted to be in this league and how he wanted to approach practice.

“I’m not worried about him, but I am going to be a brother he can lean on.”
Jordan was the Texans’ No. 2 tight end, behind starter Dalton Schultz. Now, rookie Cade Stover will have to step into a bigger role.
Stover, a fourth-round pick out of Ohio State, has logged a combined 29 snaps in his first two NFL games, according to Pro Football Focus. Stover opened last week’s game against the Chicago Bears behind Stroud, his college teammate, in the I-formation. In addition to serving as a primary blocker, Stover reeled in his first career reception, moving the chains on a 4th-and-1 in the first quarter and picking up 18 yards while he was at it.
The Texans also added veteran tight end Irv Smith Jr. to their practice squad this week. But, again, with Jordan out — and Dalton Keene sidelined for the year with an ACL tear as well — the onus is on Schultz and Stover to carry the load.
