Odds for Kent State vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame is a 29.5-point favorite over Kent State in the NCAA Tournament opener, according to FanDuel. The over-under is set at 139.5.

Notre Dame brings plenty of momentum into the matchup after winning the ACC Tournament last week in Greenville. Hidalgo has been crucial to the Fighting Irish’s success this year, leading the team with 23.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 steals per game. She earned first team All-American honors from the AP while also bringing home the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

Kent State, meanwhile, is led by Katie Shumate. The Golden Flashes’ leading scorer with 15 points per game, she also leads the team with 7.6 rebounds and 0.8 block. Jenna Batsch is KSU’s also main scoring threat, averaging 13.4 points while shooting 38% from three-point territory. That means Notre Dame will have to contain those two, in particular, to advance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Fighting Irish are coming off two straight Sweet Sixteen runs under Niele Ivey after missing the big dance in 2021. They’ll try to repeat that success this year in a journey that begins Saturday at Purcell Pavilion.
