Philadelphia Eagles vice president and general manager Howie Roseman had an interesting comparison for winning his second Super Bowl with the team. While making an appearance on The McShay Show with Todd McShay, he hesitated a minute before letting it fly.

“It’s almost like the first time you have sex,” Roseman said. “You’re so glad you had sex, it’s not even the quality of it. The second time it’s like, ‘Wow, I could actually have fun and enjoy this.’”

Roseman won his first Super Bowl with the Eagles in the 2017 season when he was executive vice president of football operations. He took over the position of general manager in 2019 and came one win away from a second Super Bowl victory in the 2022 season when Philadelphia lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

This past season saw the Eagles matched up against the Chiefs once again with revenge on their minds. They left no doubt in one of the most dominant Super Bowl performances in recent memory to win 40-22.

After the laughter died down from his initial explaination, Roseman went on to say why this victory felt more enjoyable than the one seven years ago.

“I think this one was more fun. It was less of a relief. Less of just like, ‘All right, I got one. I can check that box off.’ And more like, ‘Let’s enjoy it. Let’s have fun,’ understanding a little bit better how to celebrate it. I think because of the way the game was, it was easier to kind of go down and celebrate with the players. When that confetti falls and you know you’re the last team standing, that’s the only thing you strive for going forward.”

Howie Roseman has worked with the franchise since 2000 when the Eagles hired him as an intern. He eventually worked his way up to general manager by 2010 and held that role until 2014 when he made the move over to vice president of football operations.

But now he’s back as GM and has clearly done a lot of things right over the past few years to keep Philadelphia as a contender. The Eagles recently re-signed running back Saquon Barkley for two more years and have quarterback Jalen Hurts for the long haul, so this could only be the beginning.

Either way, it was certainly a good feeling to get the win and Roseman had a colorful way to describe it.
