Aaron Rodgers recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, which led to some interesting reactions from Ian Rapoport and Pat McAfee. On The Pat McAfee Show, Rapoport and McAfee reacted to Rodgers visiting the Steelers at their practice facility on Friday.

“Not a lot of people knew about this visit,” Rapoport said. “People very close to him did not know about his visit. It broke from a reporter who has covered the Steelers for a very long time and is very tied in there. Only once he was in the building.

“For a lot of us, we sort of thought a visit would be coming, but just to be frank, I saw the news and was like, ‘Oh, okay. I guess it’s today. I didn’t know either, so I think there were a lot of people real close to him that were sort of a little bit in the dark, which I think he likes.”

Rapoport went on to talk about the actual meeting. “It sounded like it went really well,” he stated. This led to McAfee sharing his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers meeting the Steelers as he currently looks for a new team for the 2025 season.

Will Aaron Rodgers sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers?

“I think they both probably wanted to get to know each other,” McAfee explained. …The Michigan Pro Day was allegedly happening on this particular Friday. They opted not to go to the Michigan Pro Day to meet with Aaron. …I don’t know if this was necessarily just him trying to get a feel out for what the Pittsburgh Steelers would be like, but also the Pittsburgh Steelers maybe getting a feel out for Aaron Rodgers. Will this thing work? I’m pretty excited.”

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette first reported that Aaron Rodgers visited the Steelers but left without a new contract. The four-time NFL MVP met with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and general manager Omar Khan. The Steelers need help at the QB psoition since Justin Fields signed a contract with the New York Jets, and Russell Wilson is currently a free agent.

Rodgers, who will be 42 in December, spent the last two seasons with the Jets. In 17 games last year, Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, but the Jets won just five games.

Before joining the Jets, Rodgers spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. During that time, Rodgers made 10 Pro Bowls was named league MVP in 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2021 and led the Packers to a Super Bowl win during the 2010 season.
