Illinois is set to take on Oregon in matchup of two of the top teams in the Big Ten so far this season. Oregon enters the contest unbeaten.

The Ducks are coming off a shellacking of Purdue, showing no signs of any malaise following a massive win against Ohio State the week prior. That showed the Ducks are locked in mentally. So the Fighting Illini will have their work cut out.

According to lines listed by FanDuel, Oregon opens as a 21.5-point favorite over Illinois, while the over/under point total for the contest has been set at 54.5 points.

That sets the expectation going into the game: Oregon is a considerable favorite, expected to win and move to 8-0 as the hunt for the College Football Playoff continues.

First, though, they’ll have to solve an unusually tricky puzzle presented by Illinois.

Illinois got off to a 5-1 start to the season before running into Michigan, beating some quality teams along the way while being competitive with Penn State.

But Oregon has all the pieces. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel has been outstanding, running back Jordan James has paced things on the ground, and a handful of receivers have been lights out.

By all accounts, Oregon enters as a favorite to win. But that’s why they play the games on Saturdays.

The two teams are scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with a national broadcast slated for CBS.
