The Tennessee Titans made a major free agency addition on Sunday, signing five-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins to a two-year contract worth $26 million. However, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed, Hopkins has the opportunity to earn an extra $6 million with the incentives on his contract.

If Hopkins reaches 95 catches, 1,050 yards and 10 touchdowns in either of the next two seasons, he can earn an extra $1 million for each category — $3 million total. Those are simply the max numbers that Hopkins can earn, however. The incentives begin at $250,000 for 65 catches, 750 yards and four touchdowns. They then increase by $250,000 for every 10 additional catches, two additional touchdowns and 100 additional yards.

You can view the full incentives for Hopkins’ contract with the Titans below.

Hopkins joins the Titans after the Arizona Cardinals released him on May 26. He made visits to both Tennessee and the New England Patriots before ultimately landing on the Titans. The move marks a return to the AFC South, where he began his career with the Houston Texans.

Hopkins missed the first six games of this past season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. He returned in Week 7 and finished the year with 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns across nine games.

During his first season with the Cardinals in 2020, Hopkins recorded 115 catches with 1,407 and six scores. He is set to join a receiving corps that includes second-year receiver Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Kyle Phillips.

Tennessee is likely to roll out Ryan Tannehill, who is entering the final year of his contract, as its starting quarterback. They also added a pair of QBs in each of the past two drafts in Malik Willis and Will Levis.

DeAndre Hopkins reveals when he’ll retire from the NFL

Hopkins is preparing to enter his 11th NFL season in 2023 and has shown no signs of slowing down. In the past four full seasons he’s played from 2017-20, he’s recorded at least 90 catches and 1,000 yards every year.

However, due to injuries and suspensions the past two years, Hopkins has failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark. He revealed earlier this month that he still views himself as a 1,000-yard player when fully healthy, saying he doesn’t plan to retire until he feels he can’t reach that number.

“I’ll retire from football when I’m not a 1k-yard receiver,” Hopkins said in a tweet, which has since been deleted. “With that said, I was on pace for 1,400 yards last year—one significant injury in 11 years. I might be playing till I’m 37 the way I feel.”

Hopkins enters the 2023 season at 31 years old. So, he could stick around for another several seasons, if he feels strong enough to continue playing.
