Indianapolis Colts rule Anthony Richardson out against Baltimore Ravens
After missing his third practice in a row due to a concussion, Anthony Richardson has officially been ruled out by the Colts for their Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. The former Florida Gators star hit his head on the ground during a scoring play last weekend, knocking him out of the game against the Texans.
Along with Richardson, Colts center Ryan Kelly will also miss Sunday’s game against Baltimore. Kelly is also in concussion protocol.
His absence means that backup Gardner Minshew will once again take the reins of the Colts offense. In the 31-20 win over the Texans in Week 2, the former Jaguars starter went 19-for-23 for 171 yards and a touchdown.
Before making his exit on Sunday, Richardson accounted for both of his team’s first-quarter scores against the Houston Texans.
His first touchdown scamper came on the opening drive of the game, an 18-yard run to give the Colts a 7-0 lead after the PAT. He followed that up with a 15-yard touchdown run to extend their lead to 14-0. It was on the second score that he banged his head. Through two games, Richardson is 30-for-47 with 279 passing yards, one passing touchdown and an interception. The rookie’s also taken four sacks.
Richardson isn’t the only rookie quarterback who will miss Week 3 action.
Bryce Young to miss 1-2 weeks
The Carolina Panthers will face the Seattle Seahawks on the road this weekend without starting quarterback Bryce Young. The first-year QB suffered an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for Week 3, and potentially Week 4 as well, according to the Athletics‘ Joe Person.

The two-week timeline for Young’s return to play is a cautious approach, Person claims, which means the Panthers could bring him back sooner. Next week, Carolina welcomes the Minnesota Vikings for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at home.
With Young out, veteran Andy Dalton is working with the first team. Dalton has yet to attempt a pass this season, but he has thrown for more than 38,000 yards in his career.
Young and the Panthers are off to an 0-2 start after falling to the Saints on Monday. Carolina was competitive against New Orleans but ultimately suffered a 20-17 loss.
Bryce Young was solid against the Saints in his second NFL start, going 22 of 33 passing for 153 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions. He was also second on the team in rushing with 34 yards.
On the season, Young has passed for 299 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
