On the last lap of the IndyCar race at Iowa Speedway today, Sting Ray Robb wrecked, flipped in the air, and came down to the track hard. It was a scary wreck that ended with Robb being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Good news, Sting Ray Robb was awake and alert while being transported. He gave a thumbs-up as he was carried away on the stretcher.

The IndyCar doubleheader at Iowa Speedway is a great event. Unfortunately, it ended on a sour note with Robb going to the hospital.

AJ Foyt Racing released a statement.

“Sting Ray is up, alert and in good spirits.

“After evaluation by the IndyCar Medical Staff, Dr. Vaizer has advised for medical transport by air to the hospital out of abundance of caution for further evaluation,” the team said. “The air transport has been recommended due to traffic and distance of the hospital.”

It is part of motorsport but wrecks like this are scary. You never like to see someone get that kind of hang time in the air and then flip in this manner. It also ended with a few other drivers wrecking into the inside wall, including Ed Carpenter and Kyle Kirkwood.

This season, Sting Ray Robb has been feeling things out at his new team. Moving from Coyne Racing a year ago to AJ Foyt Enterprises has not produced the change in results I think he wanted to see.

Hopefully, Robb is able to get checked out and released soon. At just 22 years old, the driver has a lot of years ahead of him in racing.

Sting Ray Robb wrecks, Will Power wins

In the second race of the Iowa Speedway doubleheader, Will Power was the driver who finished on top. Scott McLaughlin took the victory on Saturday. Sunday was all about Power who started P22 and came away with the checkered flag.

Team Penske continues to be great. IndyCar has been defined by both the good and bad headlines surrounding the Penske organization.

Sting Ray Robb wrecked on the final lap of the race. It is always a shame when a big wreck is the story, especially after a performance like the one Power had at Iowa. It isn’t often a driver is able to move up 21 spots in a race to win.

Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for Sting Ray Robb. He is a young driver in the sport who a lot of people believe could develop into a winner one day. A tough way to end such a fun weekend.
