Isaiah Mobley throws down dunk of the summer in NBA Summer League action
NBA Summer League action is unfortunately winding down but rest assured, former USC star Isaiah Mobley made his mark on Sunday afternoon. First, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward threw his defender a pretty pump fake at the top of the three-point line. Then, he dished the rock to his teammate, Sam Merrill. Merrill then fed the ball right back to Mobley on a beautiful give-and-go. Mobley caught the ball in stride in the middle of the lane. That’s when he rose up and threw down a vicious dunk on Jordan Hall. Hall was a little bit late rotating over on defense and he paid a very dear price for it. He jumped with his arms in the air, fully extended, only to be posterized by Mobley in mid-air.

The dunk was all over social media, as it should have been. What a beautifully executed play and what a dunk by Mobley. That’s how you make sure somebody remembers your name!
Not only did he throw down the vicious dunk, but he also hit the game-winning shot against the Nets on Sunday.

Cleveland and Brooklyn were going back in forth in overtime with a spot in the tournament championship on the line. With the Cavaliers needing 101 points due to the extra period’s elam ending format, Mobley found his spot in the paint with some solid footwork in order to hit the game-winning floater inside the Thomas & Mack Center.
That bucket gave Mobley a team-high 23 points for the game. He paired that with seven rebounds, five assists, and two blocks versus the Nets while shooting 60% from the field.

Through Cleveland’s first four games, Mobley averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 27.5 minutes a contest.
The Cavaliers drafted Mobley in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft after three seasons at USC. He has since signed another two-way deal with the franchise after spending time with them and their G-League affiliate.
He is also the older brother of Cavs forward Evan Mobley, an All-Rookie selection in ’21-’22 after being the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and an All-Defensive selection in ’22-’23.
Mobley and the Cavaliers will now be playing either the Houston Rockets or Utah Jazz on Monday at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN to determine the winner of the summer league crown.
