Isiah Pacheco injury update: Kansas City Chiefs designate RB to return from IR
The Kansas City Chiefs are receiving some major reinforcements for the stretch run, as they’ve designated running back Isiah Pacheco to return from the injured reserve this week, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports.
In addition to the running back, the Chiefs also designated defensive lineman Charles Omenihu to return, per Schultz. As you can tell, Kansas City — currently 9-0 and looking for more — is gaining some much-needed help as the season progresses.
“Sources: The #Chiefs are planning to designate RB Isiah Pacheco and DL Charles Omenihu to return from IR this week,” Schultz reported. “The 9-0 Chiefs, the last remaining undefeated team, are starting to get healthier. A scary sight.”
Pacheco hasn’t been on the field since Week 2, when he helped Kansas City move to 2-0 via a 26-25 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He ran 19 times for 90 yards and reeled in five catches for 21 yards. In two games this year, he had accumulated 135 rushing yards and one score before injuring his leg.
Over the course of his time in the league, Pacheco has been a revelation for the Chiefs. The team drafted him in the seventh round out of Rutgers in 2022, and since then he has amassed 1,900 yards, 13 touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry, 64 catches, 428 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.

Moreover, Pacheco played four years at Rutgers (2018-21) and finished his career with 563 carries for 2,442 yards, 18 touchdowns, 4.3 yards per carry, 47 catches, 249 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.
In Pacheco’s stead, Carson Steele and a returning Kareem Hunt have steadied the Kansas City running attack.
Regardless, with the star running back’s return, the Chiefs will be elated to have Isiah Pacheco back in the fold, as they look to elevate and win their third consecutive Super Bowl title at the end of the 2024 campaign.
