Jacksonville Jaguars announce eight interview requests for head coaching position

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced their list of head coaching candidates they requested to interview during the offseason. The eight candidates the Jaguars have requested to interview are Kellen Moore, Todd Monken, Joe Brady, Liam Coen, Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, Patrick Graham and Robert Saleh.
The only candidate with NFL head coaching experience is Saleh as he was the New York Jets head coach for the last four seasons. The Jets fired Saleh on Oct. 8 and finished his run in New York with a 20-36 record.
The two most interesting names on the list are Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn as they are currently on the Detroit Lions coaching staff. Johnson is the Lions’ offensive coordinator, and the team finished second in total offense (409.5 yards per game) and first in scoring offense (33.2 points per game). Glenn is the Lions’ defensive coordinator, and the defense finished 20th in total yards allowed per game (342.4) and seventh in points allowed per game (20.1).
Jacksonville Jaguars fire head coach Doug Pederson
On Monday, the Jaguars announced they had fired Doug Pederson as their head coach. In his three seasons in Jacksonville, Pederson posted a 22-29 record with two winning seasons, and one AFC South title.

“I had the difficult task this morning of informing Doug Pederson of my intention to hire a new head coach to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars, team owner Shad Khan said in a statement. “Doug is an accomplished football man who will undoubtedly enjoy another chapter in his impressive NFL career, and I will be rooting for Doug and his wife, Jeannie, when that occasion arrives. As much as Doug and I both wish his experience here in Jacksonville would have ended better, I have an obligation first and foremost to serve the best interests of our team and especially our fans, who faithfully support our team and are overdue to be rewarded. In that spirit, the time to summon new leadership is now.
“I strongly believe it is possible next season to restore the winning environment we had here not long ago. I will collaborate with General Manager Trent Baalke and others, within and close to our organization, to hire a leader who shares my ambition and is ready to seize the extraordinary opportunity we will offer in Jacksonville.”
