Jaguars expected to sign TE Josh Pederson, head coach Doug Pederson's son
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson is reportedly getting an opportunity to work with his son this training camp, according to a report from Draft Diamonds.
Josh Pederson, a former standout tight end at Louisiana-Monroe, is signing on with the Jaguars to be part of the 90-man roster when training camp begins at the end of July.
Most recently, Pederson wrapped up a season with the USFL’s Houston Ramblers. His contract with the Ramblers was terminated so he could sign with the NFL squad for another chance in the league.
Although he hasn’t recorded a stat yet in the NFL, the former undrafted free agent has spent time with multiple teams since the 2021 NFL Draft.
Josh Pederson was a five-year student-athlete at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. He had a breakout junior season in 2019 with the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, during which he racked up 43 receptions for 567 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
His performances earned him a Pro Football Focus All-American honorable mention and a first-team All-Sun Belt nod. He finished his Sun Belt career with 99 receptions for 1,191 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Following his career with the Warhawks, Pederson declared for the 2021 NFL Draft but went undrafted. San Francisco subsequently signed him, but after a quiet training camp he got his release from the 49ers on Aug. 4. Two days later, he signed with the New Orleans Saints but again was waived on August 21.
Pederson later worked out with the Packers and in February of 2022, he signed a reserve/future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Making the Jaguars’ roster for camp is a feat in itself for the tight end but making the 53-man roster when the season comes around will be much tougher, as the coach’s son knows.
Pederson is one of several USFL players likely to sign with NFL teams following the conclusion of the league’s season.
Cowboys sign kicker from USFL
The Dallas Cowboys have signed kicker Brandon Aubrey to the roster ahead of training camp, which begins at the end of July, according to multiple reports.
Aubrey wrapped up a season with the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions after wrapping up an MLS career and a collegiate career playing soccer for Notre Dame.
In 2017, Aubrey was a first-round draft pick for Toronto F.C. of the MLS. They released him after one season, and he then signed with the United Soccer League team Bethlehem Steel.
Aubrey made his debut as a football player after going in the USFL’s 2022 Draft to Birmingham. His contract with the Stallions lapsed on July 3. During the season, he went 14 for 15 on field goals and 35-for-35 on point-after attempts.
