The Jacksonville Jaguars have seleected former USC center Jonah Monheim in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Trojans.

Monheim spent five seasons with the Trojans. He redshirted his true freshman season, appearing in one game as a reserve. He went on to start seven games at right tackle the following season, and appeared in 12 games overall.

In 2022 as a redshirt sophomore, Monheim began coming into his own, beginning to prove his versatility by starting all 14 games for USC — 11 at right tackle and three at right guard. The following season, he would move over to the blind side to play left tackle in 13 games, making 12 starts. Both seasons Monheim earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 Conference honors.

As a redshirt senior in 2024, Monheim would make a move once again, this time to the center position. He was successful providing snaps for Lincoln Riley’s offense, and earned Third-team All-Big Ten Conference honors for his efforts. He chose not to play in the team’s Las Vegas Bowl win over Texas A&M.

Before college, Monheim was a four-star recruit according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 344 player in the 2021 recruiting class, as well as the No. 36 offensive tackle in his class.

It remains to be seen which position he will play once he’s in the NFL. Based on his college career, it could be anywhere.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about USC center Jonah Monheim

Now that Jonah Monheim has been drafted, fans may be wondering what to expect from their new offensive lineman. NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein provided his analysis of the former all-conference center.

Zierlein: “Versatile offensive lineman with impressive football intelligence and quality pass protection. Monheim has started at guard, tackle and center, but a lack of functional length narrows the focus on where he could take snaps at the next level. He plays with punch quickness and accurate hands but will get beat by longer rushers and a two-gapping nose tackle.

“He fits up blocks on time, but won’t get much push or displacement. He does excellent work identifying fronts and communicating with teammates, which will endear him to coaches, but Monheim might not create enough plus reps against NFL opponents to make his mark.”
