The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed safety Terrell Edmunds to the roster on Thursday ahead of OTAs, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports. Edmunds, who spent the 2023 season on two rosters, now joins the Jaguars as his fourth team in seven seasons. The veteran was a first-round draft pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018 and he played out his entire rookie contract with a fifth year before landing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Edmunds played in seven games for the Eagles before they traded him to Tennessee in exchange for two 2024 draft picks and safety Kevin Byard. During seven games with Philadelphia, he had 28 tackles with a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. After joining the Titans, he added another 20 tackles to his season total and notched 2.5 sacks and an interception. His interception, which came against his new team, the Jaguars, was his first since the 2021 season with the Steelers.

In six seasons, Edmunds has 458 regular-season tackles with 7.5 sacks, 35 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and six interceptions. To start his career, the former Virginia Tech standout has remained relatively healthy, missing only a game or less a season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him with the No. 28 overall pick in the first round in 2018. His most productive season for them, at least by volume, was in 2019. He posted a career-high 105 tackles, including four tackles for loss.

The Jaguars also added former Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers and former Packers linebacker Ty Summers to the roster ahead of OTAs. Summers has been on the Jaguars roster before, playing for them in three games in the 2022 season before joining the Saints.

More on the 2024 NFL offseason, free agency

The NFL 2024 calendar year began at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. At that time, contracts running through 2023 officially ran out, making those players free agents. Prior to the beginning of free agency, teams had a chance to designate one franchise or transition tag player, starting on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET and ending on March 5. Beginning March 11 through March 13 teams could enter into a legal negotiation with players who will become unrestricted free agents.

In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marked the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marked the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offers sheets hit. Following the restricted free agent deadline followed the 2024 NFL Draft, which ran from April 25-27.
