The Jacksonville Jaguars unveiled their highly-anticipated “Prowler Throwback” jerseys on Thursday before opening up training camp next week. The Jaguars will debut them for the first time on the field this season during Week 5. Jacksonville hosts divisional rivals the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, which is their first home divisional game of the 2024 season.

Also at EverBank Stadium on October 6, the team will honor former head coach Tom Coughlin with an induction into the Pride of the Jaguars.

“Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it’s apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars’ players in throwback uniforms,” Jaguars President Mark Lamping said in a statement. “That persistence paid off and our uniforms reminiscent of the team’s early years are back by popular demand – just in time for the 30th season and, in particular, the Pride of the Jaguars induction of our inaugural head coach, Tom Coughlin.”

The team unveiled the jerseys with a 1990s-themed video featuring safety Andre Cisco, cornerback Tyson Campbell and Jaguars legend/right tackle Leon Searcy. The song “Uh-Oh,” performed by the 1999 Jaguars team that produced a franchise-record 14 regular season victories, was featured as the soundtrack.

The “Prowler Throwbacks” comes from the running Jaguar logo embroidered on the sleeves of the jerseys, which also feature a vintage three-color number. Coupled with the jerseys are teal-striped pants with gold and black accents. The helmets the team will wear with the Prowler Throwback will have the original Jaguars logo on the side used by the team in the inaugural season of 1995 until 2013.

Jaguars ink Lawrence to extension before 2024 season

The Jaguars made a major commitment to former first-overall selection Trevor Lawrence last month. Lawrence signed a massive five-year extension worth $275 million with $200 million guaranteed and $142 million at signing. The new deal is set to pay him $55 million annually, which ties him with Joe Burrow for the largest annual deal for a quarterback in the NFL.

“To be able to say that we’re going to be here and have confidence and know that, that means a lot to us and we love it here,” he said. “It’s become home. Our families love it, our families love visiting here. And we’ve really settled in — this is home for us. So, we wanted to be here long term.”

Since signing the extension, Lawrence explained that he doesn’t necessarily see his leadership role changing with the extension because he’s always tried to be a leader on the team and that kind of role is earned.

“I think I’ve earned that respect over time here, anyways, but not really,” Lawrence said. “I think I look at myself anyways as a franchise quarterback, and that’s how I’ve tried to carry myself the past few years.”

“I’m a firm believer in you have to earn respect and you have to prove it on the field in this sport. At the end of the day, you can respect people, but you’re only gonna listen so much if they’re not holding up their end of the deal on the field,” he added.

Lawrence is coming off a 2023 season that saw him complete 65.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In his three seasons with the Jaguars, the Clemson alum has a career passer rating of 85 and a record of 20-30.
