Former Georgia Bulldogs kicker Rodrigo Blankenship might be on his way to landing with a new team. After the Indianapolis Colts released Blankenship following their Week 1 tie against the Houston Texans, the 25-year-old has been hanging out in the free agency market with little interest until Tuesday. According to NFL insider Field Yates, a Colts’ rival recently brought him in for a workout.

“Former Colts K Rodrigo Blankenship had his first workout since being waived by Indy, as he and Sam Ficken both tried out for the Jaguars today,” wrote Yates via Twitter.

Indianapolis parted ways with Blankenship following what they considered a subpar performance against the Texans. Against Houston, he was 2-3 on field goals and 2-2 on extra points. But his one miss, from 42 yards, was a potential game-winning field goal that was pushed wide right.

The Colts’ uncertainty with Blankenship was brought to light last season after he returned from a hip injury he suffered early in the 2021 season. When he was healthy enough to play again down the stretch, Indianapolis elected to stick with replacement kicker Mike Badgley to finish the season.

Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh shares D’Andre Swift’s impact on his game

Bulldogs running back Kenny McIntosh has had an impressive start to his 2022 campaign. And his hot start has not gone unnoticed by former Bulldog D’Andre Swift. Before heading into Sunday’s game, Swift total reporters that he’s excited to see what McIntosh does in Georgia’s next game. Those words from his former position upperclassmen resonated well with the current Bulldogs star. As the Bulldogs prepare for their week four matchup against Missouri, McIntosh explains the role Swift played in the expansion of his game on the field.

“It means a lot. Like you said, he’s been doing well in the league,” said McIntosh. “For someone like that to mention that about me, it means a lot. I played with him for a year, and I learned a little stuff from him, being able to play with him. So, just being able to play with him taught me little things on how to run a ball and how to make different types of cuts and making stuff like that. I thank God for that. That’s a blessing; that’s how I look at it.”

McIntosh has had the share the load with fellow running backs Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards but has made the most of his opportunities. On the year, the senior has carried the ball 25 times for 97 yards and has two rushing touchdowns. His most significant contribution has been in the passing game. McIntosh has a team-high 21 receptions for 227 yards. With his dual-threat ability, McIntosh could find himself playing on Sundays in a similar role to Swift on the Detroit Lions. An excellent receiver out of the backfield who can also run between the hashes.
