Jadeveon Clowney wants to play for the Houston Texans again
There have been many rumors in recent months about James Harden returning to the Houston Rockets this offseason. But could another former Houston sports star all return to his former stomping ground soon?
Former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney is training in Houston this offseason. Fox 26 Houston talked with Clowney during one of his training sessions and asked him if he would like to play for the Texans once again.
“It would be nice to be here. All my family here. Friends here. The guys I work out with who help me take care of my body, a lot better being right up under them,” Clowney said.
Clowney was drafted first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Texans and played with the organization for the next five seasons.
The Texans traded him to the Seattle Seahawks at the end of training camp in 2019 for Jacob Martin, Barkevious Mingo, and a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He spent one year in the Pacific Northwest before playing one season with the Tennessee Titans and then two years with the Cleveland Browns.
His stint in Cleveland ended early when he was sent home from the team in January after criticizing the coaching staff in an interview.

“I met a lot of good people, a lot of great teammates, fun experience,” Clowney said. “Never thought I would end up there to start off but when I got there, it was a blast. I had a blast with them guys.”
The Houston Texans are undergoing a rebuild with DeMeco Ryans taking over as their five head coach, including interims, over the past four seasons.
The two cornerstones of the rebuild are their top two draft picks, No. 2 overall selection C.J. Stroud and No. 3 overall selection Will Anderson.
Anderson and Clowney have some similarities as two of the most fearsome pass rushers of the past decade in the SEC. Clowney highlighted Anderson and defensive lineman Maliek Collins as two players he likes on the Texans roster.
“I see they putting the pieces together,” Clowney said. “I’m a big fan of the new head coach. They got some guys up front I think can go: Maliek and (Anderson),” Clowney said. “I’m looking forward to see when they do especially if I’m here.”
