Jaire Alexander injury update: Packers CB details knee diagnosis, addresses return timeline
Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander shared details about the knee injury that has bothered him over the last few weeks. On Thursday, Alexander told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that he tore his PCL.
“I just tried to give it a go . . . I went out there and shit, all I could really give was 10 plays and then it — I felt something,” Alexander said, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “If you know how [PCLs] work, it don’t just get done in three weeks, so it just needed more time. I reaggravated it going back out there and only doing 10 plays, so now we just trying to get my knee back right.”
Alexander added that he’s not sure when he’ll return to action but needs “more than 21 days of non-contact” to be fully healthy. The former Louisville Cardinals star suffered the injury in Week 8 and did not play in Week 9. The Packers had a bye in Week 10, and Alexander was limited to 10 snaps in last Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears.
This is the second consecutive season that Alexander is dealing with a major injury. In 2023, the 27-year-old missed nine games due to injuries to his back and shoulder. He missed another game because of a team-issued suspension triggered by appointing himself a team captain for a game-opening coin toss.

Matt LaFleur praises Jaire Alexander ahead of 2024 season
Through seven games this year, Alexander has recorded 16 tackles, two interceptions, seven passes defended and one defensive touchdown. During the offseason, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur talked about Alexander’s leadership heading into his seventh season.
“Ja’s been outstanding,” LaFleur said in May, per Mike Spofford of Packers.com. “Again, he’s been here every day, shows up, great attitude, eager to learn, is out there competing with the guys, talking trash, which I love because I love just amping up that level of competition in a fun way. I think he’s been a great teammate and been a great leader for us.”
