Jaire Alexander injury update: Packers make final decision on star CB vs. Saints, per report
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will be inactive on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints. Alexander has spent most of the 2024 season away from the field, dealing with an injury. And while he was a full participant during practice this week, the Packers are still keeping the cornerback out.
“Sources: #Packers CB Jaire Alexander will be inactive tonight against the #Saints,” Pelissero said via X. “He’s played just 10 snaps since October with what the team has called a knee injury. He was listed as a full participant this week in practice. But he’s not himself. They’ll reevaluate next week.”
The 10 snaps Alexander played were against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 17 after missing the previous game against Detroit. A bye week was sandwiched between there. Green Bay has spent quite some time without their star cornerback.
Turns out, Alexander has been dealing with a porn PCL. Playing against Chicago reaggravated the injury so the recovery process had to start all over.
“I just tried to give it a go . . . I went out there and shit, all I could really give was 10 plays and then it — I felt something,” Alexander said, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “If you know how [PCLs] work, it don’t just get done in three weeks, so it just needed more time. I reaggravated it going back out there and only doing 10 plays, so now we just trying to get my knee back right.”

While there was some hope that Alexander could get back onto the field against New Orleans, the waiting game will have to continue. Just two games remain for Green Bay on the schedule and one will be on a short week.
Next Sunday will be a crucial NFC North showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams are technically still alive to win the division, pending Monday night’s result. Loser would be eliminated although, both are chasing Detroit.
Week 18 sees another divisional showdown against Chicago before the playoffs begin. Potentially other Packers players will be resting up for the playoffs as well.
Alexander is certainly hoping to contribute before the season is officially done. Unfortunately, it will not come against the Saints as he misses a fifth straight game.
