Jaire Alexander welcomes challenge of facing Davante Adams
Cornerback Jaire Alexander is used to trying to limit wide receiver Davante Adams. The two spent time on the practice field for the Packers, going toe-to-toe for four years. But Monday night’s game between Green Bay and Las Vegas marks the first time the two have gone head-to-head in different uniforms.
Alexander, who has missed two straight games because of injury, is looking forward to the challenge. And it’s going to be a big moment in his career,
“I wouldn’t say it’s like the Super Bowl or the playoffs, but it’s kinda like that. It is what it is. I can’t miss this matchup with the best,” Alexander said, per USA TODAY. “I circled it way back a few months ago.”
Monday’s matchup does make for an interesting battle between the cornerback and wide receiver. Alexander is already a two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Packers, earning honors in 2020 and 2022.
Adams, who was traded away from Green Bay before the 2022 season, is regarded as one of the best receivers in the NFL today. The six-time Pro Bowler was the league’s leading touchdown receiver in 2020 (18 TDs) and 2022 (14 TDs).
Having experience playing against Adams in practice, Alexander knows what he’s up against.
“It’s pretty evident, he’s the best,” Alexander said. “I could go on and on, but he’s the best, I’m going to leave it at that.

“It’s a mouth-piece-in all game type of game. Not too much to say, just go out there and do it.”
Adams has already put up some impressive numbers through four games this season. He’s caught 33 passes for 397 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately, it hasn’t translated to much success for the Raiders, owning just a 1-3 record.
Jaire Alexander feels close to 100%
Alexander missed each of Green Bay’s last two games because of a back injury. He did not play for the Packers in the Week 3 win over New Orleans nor the Week 4 loss to Detroit.
But heading into Week 5, the veteran cornerback says he feels close to 100%.
Alexander said he feels “99.5%” and that his back is “better” than it had been. That should be a great indication that the cornerback will be on the field and ready to give Adams some trouble on Monday Night Football.
Monday’s game is scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. ET start. ESPN and ABC will have coverage of the showdown.
