Ferguson was injured in the Cowboys’ 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday. He moved into the starting tight end role for Dallas in 2023 after the departure of Dalton Schultz.

Ferguson had an impressive season to finish with 71 catches for 761 yards and five touchdowns. Before leaving the game, Ferguson had three catches from five targets for 15 yards. The longest of the trio was a seven-yard reception.

Following the news Monday, Ferguson tweeted “God is good,” showing relief that he won’t be out for the year.

During his college days with Wisconsin, Ferguson was one of the more dominant tight ends in the country. In 2021, he hauled in 46 catches for 450 yards and three touchdowns. That season was good enough to land him first team All-Big Ten honors.

In 2020, Ferguson started all seven games for the Badgers, hauling in 30 catches for 310 yards and four touchdowns. In 2019, he started all 14 games, hauling in 33 catches for 407 yards and two touchdowns. Ferguson didn’t disappoint with his freshman season with Wisconsin, playing in all 13 games. He snatched 36 catches for 456 yards and four touchdowns.

As a high school prospect, Ferguson was one of the most coveted tight end prospects in America, getting selected for the finals of The Opening, one of the nation’s top prospect camps. He finished his high school career with 1,795 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively, he racked up 314 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss, five sacks, five interceptions, and five forced fumbles.
