San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody suffered an injury in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. The injury happened when Moody attempted to make a tackle during a kickoff in the second quarter. After the attempted tackle, Moody grabbed his lower leg before making his way off the field.

Moody made his way to the bench before he was carted off the sideline into the 49ers locker room. The team ruled him as questionable to return due to an ankle injury.

Before the injury, Moody made two field goals and two extra points in the game against the Cardinals. Entering the game, the Michigan Wolverines alum made 11 of his 12 field goal attempts and 10 of his 10 extra-point attempts for the year.

The 49ers selected Moody in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He made the All-Rookie Team last year after making 21 of his 25 field goals and 60 of his 61 extra points.

Back in July, former 49ers kicker Robbie Gould said Moddy will have a huge 2024 season. “I think there’s a really high ceiling for him, not only from a physical perspective but you can see technically,” Gould said to NBC Sports Bay Area. “I’m sure he’s worked on some things this offseason that he got better from college to the NFL. I think he’ll have an even better season this year.”

Gould added: “I was 76 percent, 78 percent my rookie year. There’s so much you have to learn. So much of a transition to the game. And you definitely saw him take a bigger step in that direction throughout the season, and I think he’s going to have a really good year.”

During Moody’s time at Michigan, he was named Big Ten Kicker of the Year in 2021 and 2022. He also won the Lou Groza Award in 2021 after making 22 of 24 field goal attempts and 56 of 56 extra points.
