The Philadelphia Eagles have received good news about star defensive tackle Jalen Carter as he appears to be doing better ahead of Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter provided a positive update on Carter Friday morning on Get Up. The former Georgia star missed his media availabilities on Wednesday and Thursday due to an illness. He was also a limited participant in practice on Wednesday.

However, Jalen Carter returned to practice as a full participant on Thursday and appears ready to go for the Super Bowl.

“He was sick, but he was back to being a full participant in practice yesterday. And he is going to be out there,” Schefter said. “And I was told to use that word he’s “fine.” Not an issue.

“And again, the fact that he was upgraded from limited practice earlier in the week to full practice now, tells you that he will be out there.”

Schefter did not provide insight into what kind of sickness Jalen Carter is dealing with, but he did share that he saw Carter out and about in New Orleans earlier in the week.

No matter what it was, it’s encouraging news that Carter is back at practice as a full participant. The Eagles will certainly need him against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Carter recorded 41 tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and nine pass deflections this season. For his efforts, he was named an AP Second Team All-Pro and a Pro Bowl selection.

“Now I can confirm, I did see him out to lunch the other day, I don’t know, maybe it was food poisoning. I felt fine from what we ate,” Schefter said. “But I think Jalen Carter is alright. No issues. He will be out there and he will be starting on Sunday.”

Carter was also banged up during the Eagles’ NFC Championship win over the Washington Commanders. After staying on the grass for an extended period, he was checked on by trainers and head coach Nick Sirianni. After Carter went off the field slowly, he managed to return to the game after one play.

However, his limited time on the practice field does not appear to be connected to that incident. Instead, it appears he’s coming out on the other side of his illness and his full participation appears to be a positive sign for his status on Sunday.

The last time Carter spoke to the media, he expressed his excitement about playing across from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He already had a plan in place to stop the three-time Super Bowl-winning QB.

“One thing is to sack him,” Carter said with a smile.

Carter can’t get healthy soon enough for the Eagles. On Sunday, they will square off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX at 6:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on FOX.
