Jalen Carter says Philadelphia Eagles will draft him at No. 10 if available

Jalen Carter may fall a bit further than many originally expected, but he believes No. 10 is as far as he’ll possibly go.

The former Georgia star has had his myriad of issues throughout the 2023 NFL Draft process, but the talent is still there. Many teams would love the chance to bring him onto their squad.

Time and time again, Carter has been mocked by analysts to go anywhere from No. 5 overall to No. 10 overall, and the defensive lineman seemingly has confirmation from the Philadelphia Eagles that he won’t slip past them.

“I believe so, it might’v been something like that,” Carter responded, asked if the Eagles told him if he was available at No. 10 they would pick him, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Additionally, Carter stated how wild it is that the Eagles are drafting in the top ten after making it to a Super Bowl last season, and praised his former teammates that are in Philadelphia.

“That’s crazy, that really surprised me right there,” Carter added, regarding the Eagles having a top ten pick after making it to the Super Bowl. “It’d be crazy. They’ve got Nakobe Dean too. He was one of the leaders on the 2021 group. I look up to that guy a lot. Having him and Jordan Davis, that’d be crazy.”

Perhaps the Eagles would be the best spot for Jalen Carter. He could learn from some crafty veterans, as well as be reunited with former teammates. Still, the rest of the league may not be too keen on it happening.

Todd McShay on character concerns with Jalen Carter: ‘He’s been a lot to handle’

Moreover, ESPN’s Todd McShay joined Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take this week, where he highlighted the information that many of his sources, ranging from the Bulldogs coaching staff to NFL personnel, have serious concerns regarding Jalen Carter’s maturity and motivation, which is what’s causing his perceived slide.

“I have seven different, I’ve got one page of seven different sources I’ve talked to, and I started, I had about five — shoot, in December. It includes quotes from the coaching staff, yes. Let’s just put it this way, as good as Jalen Carter was, and as important he was in the last two years, winning national championships, I don’t think there’s a lot of people in Athens that are crying that Jalen Carter’s leaving town,” explained McShay. “I think he’s been a lot to handle, and I’m not saying anything that anyone in the league isn’t saying, like it hasn’t been reported. I’m just giving the information as to why. I’m not here to bash a young man and I pull for all of these guys. As long as it’s not like domestic abuse or something horrible, but there’s some — you’ve got to have a strong veteran presence in that defensive line room, and you’ve got to have a lot of leadership on the defensive side if you’re going to be comfortable bringing in Jalen Carter.

“He’s got to be motivated from teammates I think, in order to get him to play at the level he needs to play at, and you would expect him to play at as a top ten pick.”

Time will tell how much NFL teams believe McShay’s sentiment. Nevertheless, Jalen Carter is a fantastic yet complicated player, and one franchise will be elated to have him.
