Jalen Hurts, Cam Jurgens injury update: Adam Schefter reveals Eagles starters' status for NFC Championship
The Phialdephia Eagles face some serious uncertainty at the start of every play with both quarterback Jalen Hurts and center Cam Jurgens both nursing injuries ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter cleared the air about the Eagles’ injury situation earlier Sunday, revealing Hurts has been given the all-clear despite needing to wear a cumbersome brace around his left knee after initially injuring it during last week’s Divisional Playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.
“Lots of questions about Jalen Hurts and the knee brace he’ll be wearing today. I’m told there are no limitations to Jalen Hurts’ game today,” Schefter said at the start of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown on Sunday afternoon. “They can run the tush push, he can scramble around they way he did against the Rams. They’re not going to limit him. He looked good in practice this week and Jalen Hurts will be out there today.”
The true concern involves first-year Eagles starting center Cam Jurgens, who is battling a back injury also suffered in last week’s game against the Rams. Jurgens has been extremely limited in practice this week and will be a true game-time decision, according to Schefter.
“The real question will be who’s playing center for Jalen Hurts today. During his 73 NFL starts, the only centers he’s every taken snaps from are Jason Kelce and Cam Jurgens. But Cam Jurgens is dealing with a back injury,” Schefter continued. “They’re not going to decide until pregame warmups whether or not he’s going to play. If he can’t play, Landon Dickerson would slide over to center and Tyler Steen would go over to guard and there will be some question marks on the Eagles’ offensive line if Jurgens can’t go.”

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler shares major details on Jalen Hurts’ status vs. Commanders
Fellow ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler provided internal insight into Hurts’ progress this week leading into Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
“Well, I checked with somebody with the team, they said he had a good week, that he was trying to feel out his knee issue early in the week, just to make sure he’s not put too much strain on it, but he got through it,” Fowler said on Saturday’s SportsCenter. “Feels like he can push off it and do everything he needs to help the team win, but they’re going to see how he feels on game day. Now he has no injury designation. It’s really more about can he run the full game plan? Can they do the run-pass option stuff with him as a runner? (Commanders’) Defensive coordinator Joe Witt said ‘look if they try to treat him like a running back we’re going to hit him like a running back’ so he could take a physical toll during this big game.”
Hurts finished the game against the Rams 15-of-20 passing for 128 yards, 70 rushing yards and one rushing score.
