Jalen Hurts injury: Eagles QB exits game with apparent head injury, replaced by Kenny Pickett
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was taken to the locker room after being evaluated for a concussion on the sidelines in the first quarter of Sunday’s divisional showdown vs. Washington.
Hurts was hurt on the fourth play of the Eagles’ second offensive series Sunday when he dove head-first at the end of a 13-yard run, his helmet hitting the turf hard as Commanders linebackers Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu sandwiched him on the tackle.
Hurts was immediately taken to the sideline to be evaluated for a concussion by team personnel, and backup Kenny Pickett replaced him at quarterback. Pickett capped that drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to AJ Brown to go ahead 14-0 with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter. A 68-yard touchdown run from Saquon Barkley, his second touchdown of the first half, gave the Eagles a 21-7 lead before halftime.
After initial evaluations, Hurts grabbed his helmet and appeared poised to reenter the game, but Eagles officials stepped in and led him to the locker room. Hurts has yet to return to the game.

Jalen Hurts played with broken ring finger in win over Steelers
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts revealed that he played last Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a broken ring finger. He said his injured finger impacted him but still led the Eagles to a 27-13 victory.
“It is broken, and it did impact my play,” Hurts said after the game, per Pro Football Talk.
Hurts wore a splinter on his left hand that was covered by a glove. He finished the day with 290 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 45 yards and one score. Ahead of Sunday’s game, Hurts was listed on the Eagles injury report all week but was a full participant at practice.
The performance came after speculation about Hurts’ relationship with wide receiver A.J. Brown. After the win against the Panthers last week, Brown told reporters “passing” was the one thing that needed improvement. In the game, Hurts just threw for 108 yards but did have two touchdown passes. Later in the week, Brown said there were no issues between himself and Hurts.
