Jalen Hurts injury: Philadelphia Eagles QB heads to medical tent late in 1st half vs. Commanders
As time ticked away in the first half against the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts headed to the medical tent. He went in with the independent neurologist – presumably for a concussion evaluation – but later came out and jogged to the locker room at halftime.
Hurts had an up-and-down go through the first half of Thursday’s game. He completed 10 of 19 passes for 101 yards while adding 23 yards on the ground as the Eagles relied on the rushing attack through the first two quarters.
It’s unclear when Hurts went down with the injury, but the Eagles confirmed he was being evaluated for a concussion. He later received clearance to go back in the game after initially going to the bicycle on the sideline, according to Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung. The Commanders received the second-half kickoff.
Hurts and the Eagles entered Thursday’s game fresh off a resounding victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. He was efficient in that matchup, completing 14 of 20 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns to help Philadelphia to the 34-6 win at AT&T Stadium.

The Eagles took a 7-2 record into Thursday night’s NFC East matchup with the Commanders, running a fairly balanced attack on offense. Jalen Hurts entered the game with 1,976 passing yards and 12 touchdowns and Saquon Barkley came in with 991 rushing yards, along with six touchdowns. It didn’t take him long to get over the 1,000-yard mark, though, as he recorded more than 50 yards through the first half.
Of course, Hurts is also a key piece of the running game. He has a team-high 10 rushing scores on the season, thanks in large part to the success of the “Tush Push” even after center Jason Kelce announced his retirement. He also entered Thursday with 378 rushing yards – second only to Barkley on the Eagles’ roster – in addition to his nearly 2,000 passing yards.
