Jalen Hurts injury update: Adam Schefter reveals Eagles QB is 'expected' to start vs. Packers in playoffs
Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts is still in concussion protocol at the moment, but he is expected to start on Sunday when Philadelphia hosts the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs. This update came via ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter revealed the positive injury update on Jalen Hurts Thursday morning on Get Up. It should bring peace to the minds of Eagles fans everywhere.

“With the questions swirling around the Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts returned to the practice field yesterday, which is a sign that he will be back on the field Sunday to play, barring some unexpected setback,” Schefter said. “He’s been in concussion protocol. He remains in concussion protocol.
“But he is expected to start on Sunday, and so both teams have some health questions around their quarterback, how they’ll respond to what they’ve been through in recent weeks. But Jalen Hurts, barring the unexpected, is expected to start for the Eagles.”
Even though Hurts is still technically in concussion protocol, the fact that he is practicing signals that he will be out of it soon. There are steps that you must complete to get out of protocol, and returning to the practice field is one of those.
“I expect him to be back. It would be surprising right now if he didn’t make it back and Kenny Pickett were starting that Wild Card game,” Schefter said.

Hurts appeared on Wednesday’s injury report and was listed as a limited participant. He missed the final two games of the regular season due to a concussion and a left finger injury. Hurts returned to the practice field for the first time since suffering the concussion on Dec. 22 against the Washington Commanders.
“It was cool to have him out there. It’s always good to have your QB1 back. It was dope,” Eagles offensive lineman Mekhi Becton said, per the team’s official website. “He looked great. He looked like Jalen.”
ESPN analyst and former NFL QB Dan Orvlovsky recently said he had some concerns about Hurts since he has missed a lot of practice time.
“I would be pretty concerned as of right now about Jalen Hurts,” Orvlovsky said on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, per the New York Post. “This is a long time to go without practicing for a quarterback… I’m really interested to see what happens in the next 48 hours.”
