Although QB Jalen Hurts had another injury yesterday in Philadelphia’s divisional win, ESPN’s Adam Schefter expects him to play this weekend in the NFC Championship.

Schefter spoke on Hurts’ availability for Sunday after the knee injury he had against the LA Rams while on “The Pat McAfee Show.” He said he sees no reason to not yet expect him to play against the Washington Commanders, especially with him coming back into the game and playing with it against the Rams.

“Well, I think the first thing we operate under is he came back in and he finished the game. So it’s hard to imagine he came back in, finished the game, and he wouldn’t be out there this next week – short of testing and finding something, which we haven’t heard to be the case just yet,” said Schefter. “So, barring anything unexpected, I expect that Jalen Hurts would be out there next week.”

However, Schefter did note that Hurts may not be fully and completely healthy if he does play with what all he has dealt with this season, especially over the last month.

“Now, he’s taken a beating here in the last month or so between the concussion, between that injury yesterday,” said Schefter. “I don’t know that he’s going to be operating at full strength for Sunday’s NFC Championship game.”

Hurts suffered a concussion in Week 16 that kept him out of the final two games of the regular season. He then returned for their Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers where Hurts was 13/21 (61.9%) for 131 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 36 more yards.

Hurts was then 15/20 (75%) for 128 yards while rushing for 70 yards and a score in the 28-22 victory over Los Angeles. During the third quarter, though, a sack brought him down in an awkward fashion with him heading to the medical tent because of it. He didn’t miss a snap but later didn’t share too much on the matter postgame.

Still, Schefter has no expectation as of now that Hurts won’t be available for the NFC Championship because of that. He’ll have a few days this week to recover and be ready for kickoff where he could help take Philly to a second berth in the Super Bowl in three years.

“I think, at this point, with the exception of more news coming in, it would be an upset if he’s not out there,” Schefter said.
