Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to play against the Washington Commanders in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, despite suffering a knee injury during a win over the Rams on Sunday.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter provided an injury update on Hurts Thursday morning on Get Up. Schefter revealed that while Hurts is expected to play, it remains to be seen how close to 100% he will be.

“As for the Philadelphia Eagles and their quarterback Jalen Hurts, he intends to play Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders, despite the fact that he suffered a knee injury against the Rams… went out of the game,” Schefter said. “Was a limited participant in Wednesday’s walk-through practice.

Saquon Barkley said he expects Jalen Hurts to be Jalen Hurts. But we don’t know exactly what Jalen Hurts will be and how healthy he’ll be out there on Sunday.”

That is obviously encouraging news that Barkley expects Hurts to be 100%, but it still doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be. The former Alabama/Oklahoma quarterback finished the game against the Rams, but he was noticeably in pain.

The Eagles would obviously love for Hurts to be at full strength on Sunday with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line. Schefter warned that we may not know how healthy Hurts truly is until the game gets underway.

“We may not know until we actually get to see him against the Commanders, but he could certainly not be at full strength. And that would impact the Eagles offense,” Schefter said.

Hurts threw for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns during the regular season, while completing a career-high 68.7 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 630 yards and 14 scores. His legs are obviously a big part of his success, and Dan Orlovsky explained what kind of impact Hurts being banged up could have this weekend.

“It hurts their run game big time. If you go back to the last two times these teams played, when Jalen Hurts got hurt, I remember the next morning on this very show saying, ‘I have not seen a defensive line dominate the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line the way that Washington’s did,'” Orlovsky said on Get Up.

“Without Jalen Hurts you can see that this defensive line teed off and the whole goal was get penetrate, go up field, don’t worry about a zone read or a quarterback keeper or a designed quarterback run.”

Hurts was injured a month ago when the Commanders beat the Eagles 36-33 in Washington. Philadelphia would love for Hurts to be close to 100% this time so that the Commanders have to honor the threat of him taking off.
