Jalen Hurts injury update: Eagles QB Wednesday status revealed ahead of NFC Championship game
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is dealing with an injury that could impact his play in the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders. In the Eagles’ first injury report of the week, Hurts was listed as a limited participant due to a knee injury.
Hurts suffered the injury during the team’s 28-22 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. He finished the game but was noticeably in pain.
After the game, NBC’s Melissa Stark asked Hurts about his knee and will it impact his play in the conference title game. “I’m sure I’ll get asked about it later, I don’t know if I can answer right now, but I’m gonna go enjoy this win with my teammates,” Hurts said, per CBS Sports.
On Wednesday, Hurts shared more about his injury. “I’ve just been progressing, taking it a day at a time,” Hurts said, per CBS News. “I was able to participate today and be involved in stuff. So, just taking it a day at a time. Every game is different. Just want to take it a day at a time and continue to progress.”

What if Jalen Hurts can’t play in the NFC Championship game?
If Hurts can’t play on Sunday, the Eagles will likely go with backup Kenny Pickett. On Monday, Sirianni expressed his confidence in Pickett and No. 3 QB Tanner McKee. “As far as the backup quarterback goes, Kenny played really well, and Tanner played really well when he was in. So, it makes you have tough decisions, and that’s a good thing to have,” Sirianni said Monday.
“The entire year, Kenny was our backup, and when he played, I thought he did a really nice job and put us in positions to win games. And when Tanner played, he did a really nice job at putting us in position to win games. So we have three guys that we’re so excited to have on this roster.”
Jalen Hurts is a big reason the Eagles are playing in their second NFC Championship game in three seasons. In the last two playoff games, Hurts has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns with a 101.6 passer rating. He’s also been strong in the run game, rushing for 106 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries.
