Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is currently in concussion protocol, but that doesn’t mean he will miss the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers this weekend. On the NFL Network, NFL insider Mike Garafolo said he expects Hurts to return from his injury and start on Sunday.

“Nick Sirianni saying today Jalen Hurts is still in the protocol, it’s a little bit of gamesmanship,” Garafolo said on The Insiders. “From my understanding, he was almost attending the last couple of games, but the Eagles have a policy that players who are going through concussions just stay home. He has been feeling okay, I think it’s just a matter of Sirianni saying…

“First of all, he doesn’t talk injuries. He went on this whole rant of I think was like a year or two ago where he basically explained ‘Here is what you’re gonna ask me,’ and he went throughout the week. He’s like ‘I’m not gonna answer your questions about injuries’ the entire week. He had it all planned out about ‘Oh, I haven’t talked to the trainers yet. Is he going to practice today? I don’t know, we’ll see.’

Jalen Hurts is expected to play against Packers

“…I don’t have any great concern. I think Jalen Hurts is going to play in this game. He may not get cleared officially out of the protocol until the end of the week. There’s really no rush, you don’t have to take a guy out of the protocol until it’s time to play a game. I think he’s going to be okay. I think he’s gonna play this coming weekend.”

Jalen Hurts has not practiced since suffering a concussion in the first quarter of the game against the Washington Commanders on Dec. 22. He missed the last two games, with Kenny Pickett starting in the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys and Tanner McKee starting on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Hurts was a big reason the Eagles finished the 2024 season with a 14-3 record and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. In 15 games, Hurts completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 103.7 passer rating. Hurts was also strong running the ball, tallying 630 yards and 14 touchdowns on 150 carries.
