Jalen Hurts injury update: Nick Sirianni reveals Eagles QB's status for Wild Card vs. Packers
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced Friday that quarterback Jalen Hurts has cleared concussion protocol and will play in Sunday’s NFC Wild Card Round game against the Green Bay Packers.
Hurts, who suffered a concussion in the first quarter of the Dec. 22 game against the Washington Commanders, returned to practice Wednesday and was a full participant Thursday. He missed the last two games, with Kenny Pickett starting in the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys and Tanner McKee starting this past Sunday against the New York Giants.

“I’ve been in this position before with a concussion, and when you miss time, you try and find ways to get back as fast as you can,” left tackle Jordan Mailata said, via Christiaan DeFranco of the Delaware County Daily Times. “I think he did a great job of dealing with that and coming back as sharp as he did today. I thought he had a phenomenal practice.”
Hurts was a big reason the Eagles finished the 2024 season with a 14-3 record and the No. 2 seed in the NFC. In 15 games, Hurts completed 687% of his passes for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 103.7 passer rating. Hurts was also strong running the ball, tallying 630 yards and 14 touchdowns on 150 carries.

Nick Sirianni confident in Jalen Hurts as he returns from concussion
“We’ve got so much faith in him. And the things he can do,” Sirianni said Monday on 94.1 WIP. “This is why you practice the way we practice. Practice is high intensity. We feel like we have a great practice plan, and our guys go about their business in practice very game-like. That’s where you work out your kinks or anything that you have, just being locked in and focused all week.
“We’ve got a lot of faith in Jalen as he gets ready to play the football game.”
Both Pickett and McKee performed well in Hurts’ absence. Pickett has more experience between the two, but Sirianni stopped short of naming the backup against Green Bay.
“We got a lot of confidence in both of the guys,” Sirianni told reporters Monday, via Zach Berman of PHLY. “When Kenny’s had to play, he’s played really well. When Tanner’s had to play, he’s played really well… We just have a great room.”
