Jalen Hurts says he turned down chance to be on Netflix's 'Quarterback' series
As one of the NFL’s rising stars at quarterback, Jalen Hurts was a natural option for Peyton Manning to consider for his Omaha Productions/Netflix series Quarterback. However, Hurts said on Wednesday at training camp that he not only has not watched it, he was asked to participate for the first season and turned it down.
The Philadelphia Eagles starter explained his reasoning during a press conference, and promised his story would be told one day.
“I have not,” Hurts admitted. “I actually turned it down last year… didn’t think it was appropriate for the year, so I turned it down. That time will come. I know there’s a lot of the journey to be told and a lot yet to unfold that will be told one day, that time will come.”
After a loss in the Super Bowl last season, it’s hard to see Hurts changing his mind for the 2023 season.
Peyton Manning previously admitted that he would not have agreed to a behind-the-scenes look at his season early in his career, but he wished he had before he retired. The show has already been renewed for a second season, however, the names of the quarterbacks participating are still under wraps.
“Look, we are all set to move forward with season two of this series Quarterback, and we have a lot of quarterbacks that want to do it because now they realize, ‘Hey, if I do this, I’m going to win the Super Bowl and be the MVP of the league.’ Right? Patrick Mahomes has shown that,” Manning said in a news release.
Since premiering on Netflix on July 12th, the show has taken off. It’s consistently ranked in the streaming giants’ top 10 shows since its debut.

Justin Fields turns down ‘Quarterback’
As one of the most electric and dynamic quarterbacks in the league, Justin Fields was reportedly approached to be on season two of Peyton Manning-produced Netflix series Quarterback.
The former Ohio State star turned down the offer of having cameras follow him around all season while he’s trying to get something going.
“Having cameras around the building, that might change the vibe of everyone,” Fields told the media on Tuesday. “I just want to keep it natural and organic and really just focus on what’s going on in the building.”
The Bears went 3-14 last season with a last-place finish in the NFC North. Still, hopes are high.
“Everybody around here has the same goal,” Fields said from training camp on Tuesday. “… We all know what the ultimate goal is and that is to win the Super Bowl.”
